For 10th Consecutive Year:

National Business Excellence Awards 2013 launched

The National Chamber of Commerce announced the official launch of this prestigious business benchmark event recently, at the Hotel-Colombo Hilton Blue Elephant, for the 10th consecutive year, to recognize the best performing business organizations. Selected business organizations that excelled in overall performance and made significant contributions to the socio economic development of the country were recognized every year under this award scheme.

NBEA is an unique national awards scheme as it evaluates the overall performance of a company and select the cream of the cream of business in the country for awards. NBEA through the last 9 years has gained high reputation and recognition amongst the business community due to its high standard and professionalism.

NBEA has now become one of the most sought after business benchmark competitions among the Sri Lankan business community for the past 9 years. Any business organization engaged in business for the last three years and having its audited accounts for previous three years, could apply for the competition. The Awards Ceremony will be held in November 2013 at Hotel-Hilton, with all the glitter and glamour, with music and entertainment and followed up with a gala dinner.

Sunil Wijesinha, President NCCSL & Chairman of NBEA Steering Committee addressing the event said NBEA was the most sought after business excellence schemes in the country. He said over the years many corporates have been interested in participating in this awards scheme and have won many awards. Wijesinha said their scheme had been some what unique, because it not only rewarded overall excellence but also rewarded criteria of excellence. “ Any awards scheme has to evolve in a way that it will cater to the current requirements of the business community and we have to incorporate new features as and when we see the need for such change and many changes would be made to the new model that would come to place from 2013 onwards.

We place a lot of emphasis on corporate social and environmental sustainability which we have incorporated into the new model,” Wijesinha added.

With the launch taking place, application forms for the competition will be available at the NBEA Secretariat, National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, No. 450, D Wijewardena Mawatha, Colombo 10. ANCL is the official print media of the event.
