AIA Insurance appoints Gorden Timmins Watson as Chairman M/D

Lanka PLC, has appointed Gordon Timmins Watson the Chairman and Director of the company with effect from June 28.

Huynh Thanh Phong, has stood aside from his position as chairman, effective June 28 and he would remain on the Board as a Non-Executive Director. Shah Rouf, CEO/Managing Director, has stood aside from his Board position with effect from June 28 and shall continue as the Chief Executive Officer, (non Board) effective the said date. Mitchell David New is appointed as a non Executive Director with effect from June 28, in place of Richard Allan Bates, who resigned from the Board on the said date.

Upul Wijesinghe, the present Deputy Managing Director, holding a non-Board position, had been re-designated as Deputy Chief Executive Officer with effect from June 28.

Gordon Watson, who is the Regional Chief Executive of the AIA Group Limited, was responsible for the Group's business operations in Hong Kong.
