Pakistan’s Army Chief hails Sri Lanka Military Academy
The Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) is one of the finest, most
esteemed military training institutes in the world, producing cadets of
high standards, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez
Kayani said.

Participating as the Chief Guest at the Passing out Parade of the
Intakes 76, Lady 11 A and Lady 10 C (volunteer) and 52 A (volunteer) in
Diyatalawa on Saturday, General Kayani spoke about the bonds of
friendship and goodwill that continue between the countries.
Commending Sri Lanka’s post-war adaptation and revival, the General
said his country has always supported Sri Lanka in its 30 – year war and
continue to do so in the future too, as both military organisations
liaise with each other very closely.
Sri Lanka and Pakistan, he added, being two peace-loving nations,
would do everything possible to achieve regional stability while
cementing regional co-operation.
Army Commander General Jagath Jayasuriya together with the Commandant
SLMA Brigadier I.P Ranasinghe welcomed the Pakistan Army Chief on
arrival. The Chief Guest awarded prestigious swords to the 64 Cadet
Officers, symbolising the commissioning of the officers after graduation
before receiving their salute in a colourful parade in the company of
General Jayasuriya. Participation of lady cadet officers in the parade
added special elegance and colour to the event. Battalion Under Officer,
Officer Cadet, K.D.S Silva of the Intake 76 was honoured with the award
of the symbolic Sword of Honour for the Best Overall Performance. |
