Elephant Pass railway station reconstruction project ends by September

The Elephant Pass Railway Station reconstruction project is being carried out on a concept of the Education Ministry under the Uthuru Mithuru Yal Devi Friendship Rail Track Reconstruction Project.

The project is not as a mere exercise of reconstructing the railway station, but also a bridge of fraternity between the people of the North and South, sources said.

Students, except those from the Northern Province, contribute for the project. Nearly Rs. 11 million has been raised from public contributions towards the project, the sources added. The reconstruction work is expected to be completed in September 2013. The project is designed to get the participation of students for the reconstruction process. It aims to carry a message about schoolchildren's participation and commitment towards the country's development.
