Mega development projects will make Lanka Wonder of Asia -
Kotelawala

The government has started several development projects with the aim
of making Sri Lanka the Wonder of Asia. The road development project is
another step towards making Sri Lanka the Wonder of Asia, Ports and
Highways Project Minister Nirmala Kotelawala said.

"We faced many problems when starting this work. However, we managed
to obtain the support of all to launch this project which will benefit
the public," Kotelawala said at a ceremony organised by the Horana
Pradeshiya Sabha to begin work on the Ingiriya-Meepe 125 route road in
Ingiriya town.
The opening ceremony of the newly built two storied library in
Ingiriya was also held on the same day.
Kotelawala said the public are familiar with Galle Road, A-9 Road,
High Level Road and Kandy Road. He said once work on the 125 bus route
is completed, it will also be familiar among Sri Lankans. Horana
Pradeshiya Sabha chairman Yamith Chandana Hathurusingha said nearly Rs
40 million was spent to construct the library.
"We received funds from the Asian Development Bank as a loan to
construct the library. We are happy that the dream of a library became a
reality for the people of Ingiriya," the PS chairman said.
Western Province Chief Sanghanayake Ven Meewanapalane Sumedha Thera
also spoke.
Western Province Provincial Councillors Lalith Warnakumara and P.D.
Abeyrathna, Horana, Bulathsinghala, Madurawala and Panadura Pradeshiya
Sabha members and musician Rohana Baddage also participated. |
