Samadhi Buddha statue unveiled at Mihintale

President Mahinda Rajapaksa unveiled the six foot Samadhi Buddha
statue erected at the entrance to the Mihintale sacred area concurrent
to the 2320 Mihindu Jayanthi commemoration.

constructed CSD holiday bungalow

The President offered the first flower and oil lamp to the Samadhi
Buddha statue constructed by the Civil Defence Force (CSD).
In commemoration of the 2320 Mihindu Jayanthi, the Civil Defence
Force cleared the shrub jungles surrounding the areas located at the
main entrance to the Mihintale sacred area and also constructed an
attractive water fountain under the directive of Defence Secretary
Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and on the instructions of CSD Director General Rear
Admiral Ananda Peiris. Meanwhile, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa
opened the newly constructed CSD holiday bungalow near the CSD war
heroes monument in Mihintale. The CSD members have contributed their
manpower for the construction of the holiday bungalow. |
