Drunk bhikkhu arrested on Poson day

A bhikkhu who consumed alcohol on Poson full moon Poya Day in Theliyagonna was arrested by Kurunegala Police.

Kurunegala Police Special Crime and Fraud Bureau received information that the drunk bikkhu was dancing with children opposite an international school. The Police arrested the suspect and produced him before Kurunegala Chief Magistrate Ravindra Premaratna who remanded him. When the case was called before court, lawyers appearing for the bhikkhu moved for bail. The Police objected to bail and told court that investigations were not complete. The magistrate remanded the suspect and ordered him to appear in Court with his bhikkhu Identity Card tomorrow.
