Rampant helmet thefts in Tissa

Motorcyclists in Tissamaharama are wary of leaving their helmets on their motorcycles before departing, due to a gang of helmet robbers roaming in the area.

These robbers frequent public places, shrines, state institution premises etc.

Those engaged in helmet thefts are said to be unruly elements in the lower income groups, residents said.
