'National Museum an important venue of a country'

The National Museum is an important venue of a country. The National
Heritage Ministry has taken steps to develop and enhance facilities of
the National Museum. A new building will also be constructed to
establish many galleries at the National Museum, National Heritage
Minister Jagath Balasuriya said.
The minister said so participating at the inaugural ceremony of the
National Engineering Technological Heritage Gallery at the National
Natural Science Museum yesterday.
The National Museums Department provided two galleries for textiles
and for urns to the National Museum recently, he said.
Power and Energy Minister Pavithra Vanniarachchi said, it is very
important the establishing of National Engineering Technological
Heritage Gallery at the National Natural Science Museum. "As a person
who love the country's heritage, I thank the every party who took part
in this. Many Western scholars like to research on past eastern
technology in their studies. Therefore it is very important in
establishing a gallery of Engineering Technological Heritage at the
National Museum," she said.
National Heritage Ministry Secretary Dr Nanda Wickramasinghe,
National Museum Acting Director Saroja Weththasinghe, Museum Committee
President Ranjith Gunawardana, Sri Lanka Engineering Institution
Chairman Thilak de Silva and Sampath Bank Managing Director Aravinda
Perera also participated. |
