Sampath Bank schol seminars for Tamil medium

Sampath Bank broke new ground when the first ever Year 5 scholarship seminar in the Tamil medium was held in Vavuniya on the 22nd of June with a record participation of more than 2000 students. The seminar, which reached the students of the North of Sri Lanka, was conducted entirely in Tamil and it was the first time that the Bank focused on this region since the inception of the Year 5scholarship seminars 4 years ago.

Highlights from the event

The highlight of the seminar was the participation of students from the re-settlement areas of the country. Special busses were deployed by Sri Lanka Army to facilitate their participation as the students had to travel a long distance to reach the venue of the seminar, Vavuniya Town Hall.

Meanwhile, Sampath Bank successfully concluded another Year 5 seminar at Padaviya on the same day. It was held at the Ali Wanguwa MahaVidyalaya , a remote rural school in an under privileged area, with the participation of more than 450 students from 22 schools of the region. This was the first ever Year 5 scholarship seminar held at Padaviya organized by Sri Lanka's premier Bank in collaboration with Neth FM.

It was revealed that during the past , only a few students were successful at the Year 5 scholarship examination in the Kebithigollawa Educational Zone but this year the zone expects more winners as a result of the guidance received by the students at the Sampath seminar.

The Bank has been continuously holding Year 5 scholarship seminars since 2010, and this year's programme is the fourth in the series. 'Sampath Pubudu' and 'Sampath Sapiri' children's savings account holders as well non-account holders can participate at these seminars. They are organized particularly in areas where there are economic hardships and fewer resources.
