Highlights
from the event |
The highlight of the seminar was the participation of students from
the re-settlement areas of the country. Special busses were deployed by
Sri Lanka Army to facilitate their participation as the students had to
travel a long distance to reach the venue of the seminar, Vavuniya Town
Hall.
Meanwhile, Sampath Bank successfully concluded another Year 5 seminar
at Padaviya on the same day. It was held at the Ali Wanguwa
MahaVidyalaya , a remote rural school in an under privileged area, with
the participation of more than 450 students from 22 schools of the
region. This was the first ever Year 5 scholarship seminar held at
Padaviya organized by Sri Lanka's premier Bank in collaboration with
Neth FM.
It was revealed that during the past , only a few students were
successful at the Year 5 scholarship examination in the Kebithigollawa
Educational Zone but this year the zone expects more winners as a result
of the guidance received by the students at the Sampath seminar.
The Bank has been continuously holding Year 5 scholarship seminars
since 2010, and this year's programme is the fourth in the series.
'Sampath Pubudu' and 'Sampath Sapiri' children's savings account holders
as well non-account holders can participate at these seminars. They are
organized particularly in areas where there are economic hardships and
fewer resources. |
