Economic Summit to stress on energy supply
The 14th annual Sri Lanka Economic Summit which is scheduled to be
held from July 9-11 2013 in Colombo will have its sixth session
discussing about strategies to manage the energy supply and demand in a
more efficient manner for the future.
Energy has been gaining prominence for countries as a national issue
and for its people with economies increasing their energy consumption
and depletion of world's thermal energy deposits / rise in prices. Sri
Lanka as an importer of fuel, amounting to 25% of its total import bill,
has been experiencing many issues.
Dr. Anil Cabraal will deliver his keynote speech on 'Meeting the
Energy Needs for Tomorrow' during the session. Dr. Anil Cabraal is a
co-founder and Director of KMRI Lanka, a renewable energy power
development company, an adviser to KMR Infrastructures USA, and an
independent consultant in renewable and rural energy. KMRI Lanka is
developing a number of dendro power projects in Sri Lanka.
Previously, during his 15 years at the World Bank he was responsible
for rural and renewable energy development, including guiding the World
Bank Group renewable energy and energy efficiency scale up strategy.
His speech will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Prof
Rohan Samarajeewa, Chairman, LirneAsia (Colombo, Sri Lanka). |
