Drug dealer remanded

Matale Police arrested a drug dealer at Kalalpitiya, Ukuwela with
4,030 milligrams of heroin. Police investigations revealed the suspect
had brought the heroin from Colombo to distribute it among drug addicts.
Seven nabbed

Beruwala Police arrested seven suspects in connection with a robbery
where property including gems, mobile phones and jewellery worth over Rs
1.5 million were stolen from a shop in Beruwala.
Chain snatchers in court
YASARATNE GAMAGE
The Ampara magistrate released two suspects on Rs 300,000 sureties
each when the Ampara Police produced them before court for allegedly
snatching two gold chains from two women in Ampara.
The suspects pleaded guilty.
Police also seized the two gold chains worth Rs 75,000 and 130,000
from their possession.
'NEON '13' - an explosion of happiness
The Interact Club of Visakha Vidhalaya will present 'NEON 13', to
raise funds for the community service programme organized by the
Interact Club.
NEON 13 will be held on June 22 at 6.30 pm at the British School
Auditorium, Narahenpita. The school dancers and guest performers
including Mariazelle and Ronny Leech will be on stage.

The 109th Annual General Meeting of St Benedict's College Old Boys'
Union will be held on Sunday, June 30 at the College Hall commencing
9.30 am with Holy Mass which will be concelebrated by Old Benedictine
Priests Rev Fr Noel Dias, Rev. Fr Lalith Felix and Rev Fr Kamal
Nishantha Fernando.
Book launch
The book, DRO: Man for All Seasons will be launched at the Sri Lanka
Institute of Development Administration Auditorium today at 5 pm.
The chief guest will be Senior Minister, Dr Sarath Amunugama and a
number of ex-Civil Servants, ex-DROs and senior public servants will
attend.
The book is compiled by eleven former DROs on their service as
Divisional Revenue Officers prior to the establishment of the unified
Sri Lanka Administrative Service.
Old Anandian medical camp
The Old Anandians' 75-80 groups an 19th medical camp for the retired
and present academic staffs of Ananda College, Colombo will be held for
the on June 30 at the school premises from 8.30 pm. Specialist Doctors
who are attached to the 1975-1980 Old Anandian's Group and other 60
doctors will take part in the medical camp.
Cancer prevention tests, blood tests and ECG and tests can be done at
this medical camp.
They have also planned to hold dental clinic, eye clinic and
Ayurvedha treatment centre in line with this medical camp. |
