SOS Children's Villages get Weerodara support

Weerodara Stationary (Pvt) Ltd yesterday launched their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project towards the SOS Children's Villages of Sri Lanka under the theme - "Honda Pothak Ganna - Honda Wadakata Sahaya Wanna".


Weerodara Stationary (Pvt) Ltd Managing Director and Marketing Manager launch their CSR along with SOS Officers Keerthi, Thivanka and Sankha Picture by Wasitha Patabendige.

The company will print a special message about SOS Children's Villages with the SOS logo on every exercise book printed by Weerodara stationary. They will donate a considerable part of the income received from each book they sell from today to support the education of children at SOS Children's Villages.

Weerodara Stationary (Pvt) Ltd. Managing Director Rohana Ranaweera explaining the motive of this special CSR project said, "We are printing a special message and SOS logo at the back of every Weerodara exercise books.

We hope to support for the education of the needy children who are at SOS Children's Villages in Sri Lanka.

All our sales agents including Sarasavi and Godage bookshops have joined with us in this CSR project."

"SOS Children's Villages provide a family environment for children who have lost their parents, or whose parents are unable to care for them. Eight to ten children - boys and girls of varying are cared for in small family-like groups, the SOS Families. Several such groups form an SOS Children's Village.

SOS Children's Villages in Piliyandala, Galle, Anuradhapura, Nuwara Eliya and Moneragala are dependent on the financial support of individuals and corporate sponsors. Another new SOS Village is coming up in Jaffna and it is to be opened by August." "Presently over 1,000 children and youth are under our care. In addition we also help who are in danger of being abandoned by their biological parents due to poverty.

We really appreciate Weerodara Stationary (Pvt) Ltd. coming forward to help us, organizing a social welfare programme as such," SOS Children's Villages Fund Development and Communications Director Thivanka Thomas explained.

SOS Children's Villages Sri Lanka Director (Projects) Keerthi Hettiarachchi, Assistant Director (Fund Development and Communications) Sankha Wanniatchi, Weerodara Stationary (Pvt) Ltd. Marketing Manager Thilan Seneviratne, Sri Lanka Book Sellers Association Chairman Kusuma Bandu Samarasinghe and Weerodara Agents in island wide were also present at this event.
