Dilroy to referee his last 'Bradby' today
Leading Sri Lanka and International referee Dilroy Fernando will be
blowing in his last match when he referees the second leg of the 69th
Bradby Shield encounter at the Royal Sports Complex today.
Dilroy, who took to refereeing in the late 1980's officiated his
first Bradby Shield match in 1992. After being away in Hong Kong from
1993 to 1995, he came back to referee the 1996 game in Bogambara and
since then has continued to referee in this prestigious match on 19
occasions with the rare honour of officiating in both legs of the Bradby
Shield in 2006.
He has refereed in several Clifford Cup finals in Sri Lanka and had
the honour of officiating the Asian Games Final in 2002 and was also the
touch judge in the Commonwealth Games final in 1998 between New Zealand
and Fiji.He has also being a rugby referees educator since 2001.
Dilroy Fernando, turned out for Isipathana from 1979 to 1982 and also
had the honour of playing for Havelocks and CR and FC as a schoolboy in
1981.He donned the Sri Lanka jersey at the rugby asiad in 1984 in
Fukuoka, Japan. |
