Virtusa conferred 'Global Sustainable Leadership Award'

Rasika Withanage, Manager, Marketing and Sustainability at Virtusa, was conferred with the 'Global Sustainable Leadership Award' at the recently held World CSR Congress and Awards 2013 in Mumbai, India. The summit, themed 'Possible to do well by doing good', brought together leaders from over 50 countries to celebrate leadership in building a better society and a better world.

World CSR Congress is a voluntary organization which believes that CSR is instrumental to the development of the future. They unite for the common cause of spreading the message of sustainable CSR, which makes a difference to the community at large.

Speaking on the occasion Rasika Withanage said, "I am honored and delighted to receive the award. This is a humbling and inspiring experience that will encourage me to continue my efforts towards building a better community."

Rasika was also among the speakers at the summit and made a presentation on 'World water challenges and sustainable outcomes'.

He was recognized by the Jury and Council of Board Members of the World CSR Congress for implementing numerous sustainability initiatives during the past ten years.

Sustainability is a value that is embedded in Virtusa's culture.

The company actively advocates and promotes the creation of a digitally inclusive environment while encouraging all their team members to be responsible corporate citizens. The four main sustainability pillars of Virtusa are the Digital Reach, Campus Reach, Tech Reach and Code Green programs. Rasika is an active participant in the company's sustainability program and has personally spearheaded many of the sustainability projectsat Virtusa. For example, Rasika was involved in creating IT labs for various schools in the North and East provinces and coordinating flood relief programs.
