Power Sri Lanka 2013 11 th edition begins

The eleventh edition of Power Sri Lanka 2013 , an International
exhibition on power generation, transmission, energy and renewable
energy commenced yesterday (13) at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and
Convention Centre in Colombo.

Three exhibitions Renewable Energy Sri Lanka 2013 International Expo,
Solar Sri Lanka 2013 Int'l Expo, and E-Power Sri Lanka 2013
International Expo would be held concurrently.
The three day exhibition is organized by CEMS Global USA and
co-partnered by Power Lanka Pvt Ltd and Orange Electric.The exhibition
would be an ideal platform for all power industry related stakeholders
to create much needed business links as well as showcase their wide
range of products under one roof.
This year exhibition will see the participation of high profile
exhibitors from over 10 countries and they will have the opportunity of
familiarizing themselves with the Power and Energy sector of Sri Lanka
and see the investment climate where the Government is encouraging
Foreign Investments in the Power and Energy sector.
The exhibitors will showcase world-class technology which would be
beneficial to upgrade the Power and Energy sector and also play an
important role by assembling the entire business community of Sri Lanka
from all the industry sectors.
Renewable Energy Authority Chairman Prasad Galhena speaking at the

Exhibition said, "In Sri Lanka, there is much potential for renewable
energy sources such as solar energy, wind power biomass, geothermal
energy and others. The government has a long term plan to contribute 20
% of the total electricity requirement with renewable energy sources by
2020."
Galhena also noted that the meteorological potential of all promising
wind sites in Sri Lanka is a staggering 25,000MW, which is much more
than the country's necessity. Sri Lanka has the capability to provide
excessive wind power to South India.
S.S Sarwar, Group CEO, CEMS Global-USA said that Sri Lanka is
experiencing a rapid economic growth following the end of war in 2009
and CEMS remains committed to expanding its presence while bringing more
international exhibitions to Sri Lanka in 2014. According to Sarwar,
CEMS for the first time will be organizing an 'Auto Show' in Sri Lanka
next year. |
