Vesak lights glow at Visakha Vidyalaya

The Visakha Vidyalaya Vesak week was held from May 17 to 24
commencing with the display and sale of Vesak cards which included
paintings and poems written by students.
The school premises were decorated with Vesak lanterns and Buddhist
flags.
On May 22, a Vesak lantern competition was held with the
participation of all classes from Grade 3 to 13.
The Buddhist Society provided gifts to the winners. The lanterns were
displayed alongside Vajira Road and the tents for the purpose were
sponsored by the Finance Commission.
A Bakthi Gee recital of school teachers was also held on May 22.
Teachers and students of the school observed sil on the next day at
the school premises.
A dansela providing ice cream was organized by the school's Prefects'
Guild while a chickpeas dansela was carried out by the Buddhist Society
alongside Vajira Road on May 24.
The Old Girls' Association of the school will provide a donation to
the Maharagama Cancer Hospital marking the Vesak celebrations. |
