Thai PM arrives on two day official visit today

Prime Minister of Thailand Yingluck Shinawatra will arrive in Sri
Lanka on a two day official visit today. Shinawatra will be received at
the Bandaranaike International Airport by Exernal Affairs Minister Prof
G. L. Peiris.
A special ceremony will take place at the Presidential Secretariat
where the visiting Prime Minister is to hold bilateral talks with
President Mahinda Rajapaksa. She will be accorded a Guard of Honour and
a 21 gun salute. Prime Minister Shinawatra is expected to ink several
agreements with Sri Lanka at the Presidential Secretariat today.
Shinawatra will also address Parliament today. She is the third Head
of State to address members of Parliament of Sri Lanka.
Shinawatra is expected to call on the Mahanayake Thera of Asgiriya
Chapter Most Ven Uddugama Sri Buddharakkitha Thera and Mahanayake of the
Malawatte Chapter Most Ven Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera before
participating in the ceremony to mark the 260th anniversary since the
establishment of Siyam Nikaya Uppasampada. Shinawatra will be
accompanied by a group of leading businessmen from Thailand. |
