Prisoner escapes from hospital

A prisoner receiving medical treatment at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital under the guard of prison officers has escaped, hospital sources said. The prisoner, a resident of Kobeythuduwa, Batapola, Galle, had suddenly fallen ill and was admitted to hospital for medical treatment guarded by prison officers.

Making use of a slight shift in attention, the prisoner had fled.

Galle Police are investigating.
