Earl dares Opposition to show might

The so-called strike planed by the Opposition led by the JVP and the UNP will be a total flop like the strikes launched by Lal Kantha and others since 2005, Plantation Industries Deputy Minister Earl Gunasekera said.

He said he would challenge the Opposition to launch the planned strike and show their might if they can. He was addressing a ceremony at Gampola on May 19. Gunasekera said the period the country was going through at present was not a period to launch strikes because it had many national problems to tackle including the one concerning the Provincial Council system which had been the bane of the country.
