Statue unveiling today

Eighty statues of Buddha's disciples and pagodas of God Saman and God Vibushana newly constructed in the precincts of the Midellawala ancient Buddhist temple at Naimbala, Thihagoda will be ceremonially unveiled today at 2 pm by Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne.

Chief incumbent of Gangarama Temple, Hunupitiya Venerable Galaboda Sri Gnanissara thera and Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela will grace the occasion, said Venerable Hakmana Ghanawimala thera, chief incumbent of the Midellawala temple at Naimbala,Thihagoda.

Cabinet ministers, parliamentarians, ministers of the Southern Provincial Council, SPC members and people's representatives of local bodies in the Matara district will be present at these ceremonies, Venerable Hakmana Gnanawimala thera added.
