Vesak programmes in Kurunegala

Kurunegala District Sasanarakshaka Bala Mandalaya has organised a
Vesak programme from May 24-28 as instructed by the Buddha Sasana and
Religious Affairs Ministry.
Its Chairman Ven. Atamune Gunananda Thera, Yaggapitiya Samobdhi
Viharadhipathi Velivehera Pannananda Thera and Kurunegala Ethkanda Raja
Maha Viharadhipathi Ven. Dr. Thumbulle Sri Seelakkandha Thera have
organised religious ceremonies from May 24-28.
According to the "Ethugala Buduruwa Committee more than 1,000
Upasakas and Upasikas will observe Atasil and participate in a
meditation programme on Vesak full moon poya day on the summit of the
Ethugala Samadhi Buduruwa and Uyandana Mahamewna Meditation Centre.
Those who observe Atasil around the Kurunegala town limits will be
provided with mid-day meals and gilanpasa by the traders of Kurunegala
town and suburb.
All Dhaham schools around Kurunegala have arranged special 'Bakthi
Geetha' programme at Divisional Secretariat level.
There will be a Vesak lantern competition at Udawalpola ground on May
24-26 and there will two pandals at Malkaduwawa and Maligapitiya
grounds.
CTB and private bus authorities will provide special transport
facilities for devotees to worship Viharas such as Moneragala Samadhi
Buddha Statue.
Muslims and Hindus have arranged two 'Thosai' dansalas at Gettuwana
Kotakanda temple and Kurunegala main street in front of the Muslim
mosque. |
