Those planning protests, trying to rejuvenate terrorism - Nayaka Thera

Certain groups planning to engage in demonstrations are in actual fact attempting to rejuvenate terrorism at a time when the country celebrated the forth anniversary of the eradication of terrorism, Siyam Mahananikaya Anunayaka Ven. Most Ven. Galagama Aththadassi Nayaka Thera said.

"The Nayaka Thera pointed out that forces who attempt to organize strikes in line with the Victory Day celebrations are causing the greatest injustice to the War Heroes who sacrificed their lives to save the motherland from the clutches of terrorism, which plagued us for for nearly three decades," he said.

He warned that these strikes would be an impetus for international forces which are inimical to Sri Lanka. "When there are certain forces trying to bring the country into disrepute through various means, these courses of action must be condemned," he added.

Ven. Aththadassin Thera condemned the planned strikes arranged during the Vesak Week. Therefore, I presume there is conspiracy behind this strike," he said.

"History has proved time and time again, where similar courses of action were organised to sabotage and create anarchy in the country. Leaders who organize these things are not aware of the hidden dangers of such strikes," he stressed.

"The electricity tariff increase effects every single person in society and no one is exempt from it. Without creating unnecessary problems, we should work out and implement a clear plan and mechanism to find a solution," he reiterated. "But we will never accept strikes as the only course of action to finding a solution to these problems," he added. Therefore, those who love the motherland and Sambuddathwa Sasanaya and respect the War Heroes, should refrain from participating in such short sighted activities and refrain from supporting any conspiracy driven agendas," he requested.
