Private bus operations as usual

Though some bus associations have expressed their decision to strike, there will not be any shortage of buses, as private buses are operating as usual today. In addition, the Sri Lanka Transport Board and Sri Lanka Railways have added more buses and trains to their operations and there will be no transportation disruptions today. "Sri Lanka Transport Board will operate 5,000 buses during the period while trains will operate on schedule, "SLTB Deputy Chairman L.A. Wimalarathna said.

Sri Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Gemunu Wijerathna said there will be no bus strike today as all buses registered under their Trade Union would not support any strike.

"When the people are getting ready to celebrate Vesak, we will never cause any difficulties during this period, "he promised.

Meanwhile, Vavuniya Private Bus Association also announced that they would not support any strike today.
