The Swarnadeepa Award 2012 is a symbol of recognition and
appreciation extended to Nestlé Lanka for positively impacting the rural
economy through its contribution to the local dairy industry for over
three decades. Organised by the Nidahas Lanka Mass Communicators
Association, the Swarnadeepa Awards paid tribute to individuals and
organizations that have ‘contributed to the well being of the country.’
“We are honoured to receive this award in recognition of our efforts
to ‘Create Shared Value’ for both Nestlé and society. We believe that
the overall well being of farmers, rural communities, small
entrepreneurs and suppliers is intrinsic for the long term success of
our business. Nestle’s approach to rural development thus aims at
ensuring thriving farmers and thriving communities. Today, we are proud
to say that Nestlé indirectly impacts the livelihood of over 23,000
rural based Sri Lankan dairy and coconut farmers and their families.
This award of appreciation reinforces our mission to make a
difference by enhancing people’s quality of life through employment and
economic development,” said Ganesan Ampalavanar, Managing Director,
