President’s official visit to Uganda
President Mahinda Rajapaksa returned
after a four-day official visit to Uganda. During the
visit, President Rajapaksa held bilateral talks with Uganda’s President
Yoweri Museveni and
delivered the keynote address at the Commonwealth Local Government
Conference (CLGC)
2013 held in Kampala, Uganda, under the theme “Developmental Local
Government: Putting
Local Government at the Heart of Development.” Uganda’s President Yoweri
Museveni
visited Sri Lanka last November. External Affairs Minister Prof G L
Peiris, Monitoring MP for the Ministry
of External Affairs Sajin de Vaas Gunawardena, Secretary to the
President Lalith Weeratunga, Sri
Lanka’s High Commissioner designated to Uganda (resident in Nairobi,
Kenya) T Raveenthiran and Sri
Lanka’s Honorary Consul in Uganda V Kananathan were also present.

| The student cricket team of Uganda
called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa during the President’s
visit. The President who witnessed the cricketing talents
exhibited by the team also agreed to provide the services of
Sri Lankan coaches to uplift cricket in Uganda. The
President also presented cricket uniforms to the members of
the team. |
