Principal, teacher exams to be held on time

Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena said Principal and teacher service examinations will be held on time in the future.

The minister was addressing the media at the Education Ministry yesterday.

"The limited examinations relevant to teachers and principals' services have not been held annually or during the scheduled period for several years. Therefore, certain issues are reported from the education sector as a result of the examinations not being held on time. Limited examinations related to Principals' service have not been held annually resulting in a shortage of principals. Therefore, the Education Ministry has to appoint senior teachers as Principals to a large number of schools. The scarcity of Principals has resulted in many administration issues in these schools."

Teachers are also affected as teachers' service examinations are not held properly. Gunawardena said all the examinations will be held on time.
