Vets treating jumbos to be registered

The Sri Lanka Ayurveda Medical Council has taken steps to register veterinary surgeons treating elephants. This is being done on a concept of Indigenous Medicine Minister Salinda Dissanayaka.

The prime objective of the registration process is to give proper recognition for veterinary surgeons treating elephants and to help stop the human-elephant conflict.

A meeting in this regard will be held today with the participation of Indigenous Medicine Minister Salinda Dissanayaka, Deputy Minister Pandu Bandaranayake, Ministry Secretary Lalith Kannangara, Sri Lanka Elephant Owners' Association chairman and Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara and members of the Sri Lanka Ayurveda Medical Council.
