Weather conditions to improve

The weather conditions in many areas of the country have improved with the moving away of the cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal, Meteorology Department Duty Forecaster Anusha Warnasuriya said.

She said the cyclone was located near Bangladesh coast as at yesterday noon, adding that it was expected to enter the land area last night.

She said prevailing windy conditions would abate by today. However, she said there would be showers at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and Galle and Matara districts today. She said showers or thundershowers would develop at a few places elsewhere during the afternoon or evening. She requested the public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damage caused by lightning activities.
