Factory closure puts employees in trouble

A garment factory at Kongala, Hakmana, was closed with out notice by
the management. The factory was in operation for two years.
Nearly 270 employees of the factory were inconvenienced with the
closure of the factory.
Bridge needs repairs

The bridge over Nilwala Ganga at Dummalewatta adjacent to the
Morawaka town is in a state of disrepair. Iron beams fixed in the bridge
have decayed and side railings have also been broken.
Boy drowns in well

A 13 year old drowned after falling into a well in Bogahayaya,
Mihintale on May 14 evening. Police said the boy had fallen to the well
when he came for a bath with the elder brother around 7 pm. When the
elder brother raised an alarm, neighbours had rushed to the scene and
rescued the boy and rushed him to Mihintale hospital where he was
pronounced dead. The deceased was identified as P B Adheepa Ranjaka, a
student of Mihintale MV.

The Wayamba Province inter-school software competition awards
ceremony 2013 will be held at the Provincial Council Auditorium on May
17 at 9 am. Chief Minister Athula Wijesinghe will be the Chief Guest.
Cremation
Nittambuwa Vidyananda Piriven Viharadhipathi Sri Lanka Ramanya Nikaya
Mahopadhya Ven Dhammasiri Nayaka Thera expired on May 14 will be
cremated on May 18 at 3 pm at the Nittambuwa sports grounds.
Material for dhamma schools

Bulathsinhala Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Thusitha Kularatne has taken
steps to distribute school furniture among 52 religious schools in the
area.
They are given to Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and Catholic religious
studies schools.
The PS provides Rs 2.5 million for this project. Chairman Kularatne
told the Daily News that these school furniture will be distributed
before the end of this month.
