Intense staff training enhances Nawaloka Hospital services

Nawaloka Hospital, which has been in the forefront of private healthcare in Sri Lanka for over two and a half decades, recently upgraded its Staff Training Unit to plan and implement regular training programmes for staff members engaged in every aspect of customer service within the hospital. In addition, the Nursing Unit conducts regular training courses for the nursing staff keeping them abreast of new advances in medical science and nursing methods.

Upgrading the Staff Training Unit is yet another step taken by the hospital in their endeavour to provide patrons with the best possible healthcare, since the training modules are specifically tailored to meet the hospital's requirments when caring for the thousands visiting daily to avail themselves of the many facilities and services. The programmes conducted thus far have covered a wide range of subjects such as personal hygiene and grooming, fire prevention and safety procedures, traffic regulations and driving skills, energy management training and team work, all designed to motivate staff members while developing their individual skills.

In addition a special course was conducted for personnel attached to the call centre in order to improve the channelling service. This was carried out by Stafford and Chan of Singapore, as part of an ongoing training schedule which will continuously address requirements and suggestions related to the Channelling Centre.

Furthermore, a session covering the Joint Commissions International Hospital Standards was conducted, bringing together the doctors and all those at management level within Nawaloka hospital to exchange information and ideas which would help uplift the standard of services offered by the hospital.

According to Nawaloka Hospital, continuously training staff and motivating them to give patrons the best possible service is their objective. In addition to the training programmes, they hope to establish a Toastmasters Club for staff members in the near future as well.
