Solid in shock win over Police

Solid SC, Anuradhapura scored a shock win over Police by 1- 0 at Police Park in the 2nd week of the Dialog Champions League ( DCL ) 2013. It was a big win for Solid SC who joined the elite group of soccer teams to play in the Big league and proved that they are a team from outstations to watch out this season.

Solid SC who were promoted to division one after they won the division two championship by defeating Matara City SC in 2012 have deployed three foreign players , two from Nigeria and the other from Ivory Coast to strengthen their team.

Skipper Shanaka Prabath, the mid fielder booted the only goal in the match to overcome their opponents Police SC.

Ratnams in hard fought win

Ratnams had a good game to beat fancied Blue Stars from Kalutara who travelled from Kalutara along with thousands of fans edged out Blue Stars at CR & FC grounds by two goals to one.Kalutara had a disadvantage since the 51st minute when their player M.Farahath was sent off by the Referee for dangerous play and in a tough match situation it is very difficult to manage with only 10 players.

Renown come from behind to beat New Youngs 2-1

Two goals in five minutes by M.Nafeel for Renown changed the complexion of the game against New Youngs at CR and FC on Saturday evening.It was New Youngs who had a good game and a lead before lemons but the pressure was too heavy for them to recover and lost in the second half to make it 2-1 for Renown

Navy edge out Java Lane 1-0

Java Lane who beat Air Force last week lost to Navy at Welisara .Navy combined well and the game was very competitive and it took in to last 10 minutes to break the dead lock by HP Charles..The win was a consolation for Navy who had a draw against Colombo FC last week.

Colombo FC win against Super Sun

Colombo FC continuing their form played a well orchestrated game To finish with a bigger margin after leading 1-0 at lemons. Newcomers Super Sun were trailing 2-1 at the 65th minute but could not contain the Colombo FC and gave it up being 4-1 at the 90th minute of play.

MATARA holds Saunders to a draw

Matara boys gave yet another spirited display to halt the champions outfit Saunders . Matara is posing a threat to top teams as they drew with Champions Negombo Youth and now Saunders and if the trend continues the future is sure to be bright.

Airmen hold Negombo Youth

Air Force who led at the early stages had to settle for a draw by half time to make it 1-1. Air Force also received a Red Card when the star striker Nipuna Bandara was found guilty by the referee at the 90th minute which was highly unwarranted by a National Player who now will miss the next match too.
