New Head for SRAWC

A new Head for the Sri Lanka Association for the Welfare of Centenarians (SRAWC) will be selected at the Executive Committee Meeting of the Association at the Sri Lanka Medical Association committee room at Wejerama Mawatha, Colombo on May 19.

The meeting will be chaired by its President Prof Colvin Goonaratna.

Research symposium

The 12th Agricultural Research Symposium of the Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management of the Wayamba University will be held on May 30 and 31 at the university.

University Grants Commission chairperson Prof Kshanika Hiriburegama will be the Chief Guest.

University convocation

One thousand six hundred and seventy internal and 1,056 external graduates will be awarded degrees at the 20th convocation of the University of Ruhuna on May 17, 18 and 19.

The university conducts 30 degree programmes through eight faculties viz: Agriculture, Medicine, Humanities and Social Sciences, Engineering, Science, Management and Finance, Fisheries and Marine Sciences and Technology and Graduate Studies.

Buddhist talk

Bhikkuni Kusuma will deliver a public talk in English on Bahuvedaniya Sutta , 'the many kinds of feeling' on May 18 at 4.30 pm at Maithree Hall, Lauries Road, Bambalapitiya.

Visakha Walk

Visakha Walk 2013, jointly organized by the Visakha Vidyalaya Old Girls' Association and the School Development Society, will be held on June 1 from 7am.

The Walk which starts from the school premises, will mark the school's 95th anniversary. All proceeds of this fund- raiser will be used for the much- needed renovations of the Jeremias Dias Hall.

Past and present students and others who wish to participate can now purchase tickets, t-shirts and caps at the school gate and the OGA office.

The Ex- Army Women's Association's 19th Annual General Meeting will be held on May 19 at 9 am at the Buddhist Cultural Centre, Sambuddha Jayanthi Mawatha, Colombo 5. All members are welcome.
