Rotaract short film competetion
"I, Salute the National Flag of Sri Lanka, Which signifies the
Independence of my Country, And stand for all its People , United as one
Nation, I, Pledge all allegiance to Sri Lanka, And undertake to work
towards its, Peace and Prosperity, In a Spirit of Tolerance and Love..."
The above Rotaract Flag Salutation sums up the message of solidarity
which Rotaractors believe in and follow.
"As the youth of this country, hearing and seeing the shocking acts
of religious and racial hatred on media is both frightening and
frustrating. Frightening because so many of our youth have been swept
into the wave of hatred and others being harassed for believing and
following something different.
Frustrating because our voices are not being heard and because we are
not able to safeguard the still fragile freedom and independence of our
country."
With this in mind the Rotaract Clubs of Colombo Midtown, Cinnamon
Gardens and University of Colombo - Faculty of Arts decided to address
this burning issue in our community through a creative medium to promote
respect for other religions / races and to promote solidarity as Sri
Lankans.
The Project chairperson, Immediate Past President Rotaractor Riyaj
Fasik believes that as members of one of the largest and respectable
youth groups in Sri Lanka, the Rotaractors are capable of dousing the
current wave of hatred and violence.
The Rotaract movement is a truly Sri Lankan movement as it boasts of
a large membership covering all ethnicities, religions, cultures, creeds
and races of this country.
The Rotaract Short Film Competition, under the theme "LOVE NOT HATE"
