Raigam Tele’es nominations unveiled

The Kingdom of Raigam team recently held a special press conference to unveil the nominations for the Raigam Tele’es award ceremony which is all set to take place at the Water’s Edge on May 17 at 6.30 pm.

This is the first time that the nominations have been announced to the public at a Sri Lankan award ceremony. The team created history at this moment as they stage the ninth chapter of the gala event.

Around 568 have been received from all the TV channels competing for two awards for excellence in TV media. This is the highest number of applications has received for evolution. Around 57 awards will be given at this year’s Raigam Tele’es. The winners of the 18 awards for Excellence in TV media, 20 awards for Excellence in teledramas, three Most Popular awards, 11 Jury Merit awards, three awards of Appreciation and the award for the best TV Channel will be announced at the function amid many celebrities. The Special Lifetime Merit award presented to those who have nurtured the industry will also be handed over to a veteran artiste this year.

The jury consists of six erudite scholars representing diverse sectors. The panel is headed by Prof Patrick Ratnayake who has been the head of the jury for many years.

“Speaking at the event Kingdom of Raigam Chairman/CEO Dr Ravi Liyanage said that the nominations announcing ceremonies have been given much importance at globally renowned functions like the Oscars. "SMS polling to select the Most Popular Actor, Actress and Teledrama is in progress. You can vote for your favourites by typing the name of the teledrama (space) name of actor (space) name of actress (space) and send it to 0772522522. Voting will close on May 15 at midnight. 25 participants who have taken part in this SMS voting session will be presented with two tickets to be present at the Raigam Tele awards ceremony."
