Efficient Police officers felicitated

The Sri Lanka Police service is highly admired by the community as a
civilian defence force. People regard Police officers as brothers and
intimate associates as they are closely linked to their social affairs
and emergencies, said Southern Province senior Deputy Inspector General
C. D. Wickramarathne.
He was addressing a ceremony as the chief guest to felicitate Galle
and Elpitiya Police divisions officers of the Galle Police range who
displayed exceptional skills in service. The ceremony was held at Galle
Light House Hotel. A group of 50 officers received awards.

The ceremony was organized as a first phase of an islandwide
programme to felicitate competent Police officers on a concept of I G P
N. K. Ilangakoon.
Police officers render a committed service of 24 hours throughout the
year. They hardy have a private life. They dedicate their lives for the
well-being of society.
The Police force is a precious asset to the people as they perform a
number of vital tasks essential for the proper functioning of the
society, Wickramarathne said.
“Police personnel are responsible for enforcing criminal and traffic
law, providing public safety, maintaining order and upholding peace
throughout the country. People can move freely anywhere in the country
with no fear and engage in their daily chores owing to the commendable
service of the Police,” the senior DIG said.
He said, Police officers should be determined to do their duties to
the best of their ability with utmost accountability and discipline.
Such officers are always commended and appreciated by the people and
state, he said. When officials are felicitated for their professional
efficiency and accomplishments they become encouraged. They receive job
satisfaction which would in turn increase productivity, he said. “We
hope to continue the programme regularly islandwide to encourage our
officers in performing their professional obligations.
Ahangama and Kosgoda Police stations were felicitated at the ceremony
as the two Police stations with highest productivity in the Galle and
Elpitiya divisions. CI W. A. Mahinda of Ahungalla Police station and CI
A. S. Wimalagunarathne of Nagoda were felicitated as the most efficient
Officers-in-Charge of the range.
CI Dhammika Hapugoda of Galle Police, SI Puspakumara of Nagoda Police
and Sgt. Janaka were felicitated as officers with the highest
performance in the Galle division while SI Asela Premanath of
Karandeniya Police, SI D. Nishantha de Silva of Meetiyagoda Police and
Sgt. 24091 U. G. Sunil of Pitigala Police were honoured as the officers
with the highest performance in the Elpitiya division.
Galle Range DIG Neil Daluwatta and Galle SSP Laith Pathinayake also
spoke.
Among the officials participated were Galle HQI Udaya Kumara,
Elpitiya SSP Athula Weerasinghe, SP Upali Bandaranayake, ASP K. B.
Keerthirathne, Asp J. G. Nandana and ASP Miranda. |
