It is the responsibility of teachers to prepare students for
examinations, he said.
The minister was addressing a ceremony at Akkaraipattu Munawwara
Junior College to honour students and staff on the achievement of good
results at examinations.
The minister was the chief guest. Principal of the school A. G. Anver
presided the ceremony.
Being educated at Munawwara College up to G.C.E (O/L) will help
students obtain good results at G.C.E. (A/L) examinations in other
colleges, said the Principal. Students passing out from the school will
help raise the standard of other schools at G.C.E.(A/L).
The Central College in Akkaraipattu will be able to earn a good name
because of the students of Munawwara, the Principal said.
"We can not easily forget the good old days of school life. When we
meet friends, we discuss our school days when teachers worked hard and
also tried to raise funds to get resources for the school, he said.
The minister said he is happy to note that the teaching staff at
Munawwara is co-operative and extend full co-operation to the Principal
to discharge his duties. "When compared with other schools in the
Eastern Province, Munawwara Junior College has achieved good results.
Forty seven students of this college have scored good results at the
Grade 5 scholarship examination held in 2012," said the minister.
