Sipdora helps needy children
Sipdora is to boost and encourage studious children who face
hardships, towards higher education, said Public Administration and Home
Affairs Minister W D J Seneviratne addressing the Sipdora scholarship
awarding ceremony at the Rathnapura District Secretariat auditorium
recently.
Thirty one students from the Rathnapura Divisional Secretariat area
and 18 students from the Kuruvita Divisional Secretariat area received
scholarships.
The programme aims to help students of Samurdhi recipient families,
who have excelled in 2012 GCE O level examination. They receive a
monthly grant of Rs 1,000 through Samurdhi Banks for two years until
they sit for A level examination.
"Mahinda Chintana concepts focus on uplifting the living standards of
the down trodden masses. Sipdora extends a helping hand to the less
privileged children for higher education. Nenasala set up in rural areas
opens the doors for them to enter the computer world.
"Under the Mahindodaya programme, 5,000 primary schools are being
equipped with laboratory and other essential facilities", the minister
said.
Minister Seneviratna said history shows most celebrities in every
field have elevated to the highest level through hardships.
Determination is the driving force to achieve success, he said.

Secretary C Kottewatta and Kuruvita Provincial Councillor Ruwan
