Moves to create Buddhist revival among women

The Sanghamitta Shraddhakara Foundation led by its chairperson Chandra Rajapaksa has volunteered to create a Buddhist revival, particularly among the women generation in the country.

The Foundation has planned several programmes in this direction by funding the uplift of neglected temples in Anuradhapura. It is also planned to publish a book on Sri Sanghamitta therini, induce the order of dasa sil mathas to render a more meaningful service to society, launch an educational scholarship scheme for intelligent and resourceful children and support women to start self employment schemes.

Rajapaksa accompanied by a team from the foundation visited the Swarnamali Meheni Aramaya in Katukeliyawa and inspected the ongoing development work under this programme. Parliamentarian Shehan Semasinghe, NPC member Kalyani Karaliyadda and other officials were also present.
