“Battle of Minds” at BMICH

“Sri Lankan Master Minds” state of the art, Quiz Programme is a very popular and brain teasing “Battle of Minds” competition which will take place at BMICH, on May 19, commencing 3 pm.

The unique programme will be participated by competitors from four sectors such as (A) Schools/Educational Institutions, (B) Mercantile Corporate Sector Firms, C State and Private Banks Financial Sector, and (D) Individual Groups. Each group will consists of six participants and the total number of groups expected to be seventy or above.

The young students of Sri Lanka too will battle out against the rest having the opportunity to use their “Think Tanks” away from the Classroom or Lecture, Hall, in using their intelligence.

Since 1993 this competition is being organised by a group of professionals and businessmen who are also members of the Lions Club of Moratuwa/Ratmalana. The event conforms to Rules of Procedure drawn up to meet a status of strict discipline similar to an examination.

The questions will be selected from the following fields, such as History, Geography, Science, Medicine, Engineering, Literature Art Music and Cinema, Current Affairs, General Knowledge, Mythology, Space Technology, IT and Computer Technology, Politics are Sports etc. The participants therefore should be ready to respect our early learning's and intelligence which has come down the ages to a high literacy rate which we are proud to hold.

This has been an annual event and the organisers feel that it could be improved every year with added event management systems, if corporate companies and other sponsors assist us to make our country go back as the Model of the World”. Certainly there will be improvement in the thinking waves of 400/500 contestants who could, in their career involvements, beyond barriers to find solutions to the disparities that have bought strife between our people.

Schools and educational institutions are being given the opportunity to face the competition in the right attitudes. Sri Lanka has exported their great learning's and knowledge and shown many countries our capabilities through the ‘Brain Drain”. It has been seen in the past that we have benefitted towards our economy through them.

The organisers include some of the busiest people in town who are on the board of directors of Lions Club of Moratuwa Ratmalana. We have the continuous support of Lanka IOC Ltd, as Principal sponsor and many other valuable donors and well wishers who have realised the worthiness of this programme. Many have offered us sponsorships as a part of their contribution towards the social obligations to the society from their CSR Budgets.

The funds raised by this project, in the previous years had been used to construct school buildings in distant villages, such as Palutawa Sigiriya. Kalundewa, Dambulla, Mollipothana, Kantalai and in the suburbs of Bandaragama and Dehiwala and to assist needy patients in Cancer Hospital Maharagama. All the above said schools were provided with fully equipped libraries, play grounds, and the children were provided with school uniforms, shoes, books, school-bags, sports equipment etc,.

In addition to this, every year a major health camp has been conducted in a distant village. This year too, we have identified the need to assist poor patients fighting for life, in Cancer Hospital Maharagama, suffering without essential vaccines and medicine.

All winning teams are awarded attractive cash prizes, trophies and certificates. Those who have, already received the entry forms are requested to return same without delay.
