IGP lauds VIP Security Training Centre at Gonapola

VIP Security Training Centre at Kumbuka, Gonapola

The IGP speaking at the opening ceremony of the new hostel - Araliya
- at the VIP Security Training Centre, Kumbuka, Gonapola, built at a
cost of Rs 10.5 million, said this was built from profits earned from
welfare shops and canteens at the President's Security Division (PSD).
IGP Illangakoon said: "Officers who trained at the VIP Security
Training Centre, Kumbuka rendered a remarkable service during the LTTE
terrorism period. We appreciate the officers' services.
"This Training Centre taught a valuable lesson to all other divisions
in the Police Department. They have shown all that any challenge can be
won with self-confidence."
The VIP Security Training Center, Kumbuka, Gonapola trains officers
to provide security to VVIPs. The previous hostel building was
neglected. PSD officers rebuilt the building with profits obtained from
PDS welfare shops and canteens. PSD officers and welfare division
officers contributed to rebuild the building.

A special team of 25 members of the PSD helped renovate the building
named Araliya.
Araliya has eight rooms with AC and other facilities. |
