Man sentenced for sexually abusing woman

Herath Disanayake Alias Banda a father of one was imposed a suspended term of five years imprisonment and fined Rs. 5,000 by Kurunegala High Court Judge Saman Wickramarachchi last Friday.

He was found guilty of sexually abusing an 18 year old woman on November 14, 2004. In the event of default of payment of the fine, the Judge ordered a six month additional term of imprisonment.

The Attorney general had filed a plaint against the suspect.

State counsel Nalin Hewawasam prosecuted.
