Nabbed with fake gold

Three persons including two women were arrested by the Kotahena Police with 10 bangles made of ‘imitation gold’ on Monday evening in Kotahena.

A group of police officers attached to the Kotahena Police who were on mobile duty arrested them on suspicion and seized the fake gold from their possession.

Further interrogation of the suspects revealed that they had earned more than Rs. 1.1 million by pawning the fake gold to banks in Battaramulla, Homagama, Katubedda, Kotahena, Kotikawatte, Maharagama, and Nugegoda. They were produced at the Aluthkade No 3 magistrate’s court yesterday.
