The awards are an acknowledgement and recognition of their consistent contribution to the growth and the sustainable development of the brand. The recipient awards were honoured at the annual dinner dance organized by the Bank where they were awarded with a valuable token and a certificate of appreciation.

Sharing his sentiments on receiving the long-service award an employee attached to the Bank's SME department Bandula Jayatunge said "I am really pleased to have been a part of the growth of the bank for the past 25 years. I joined the the bank just after my A/Ls, in the early days of NDB, when it was a Development Bank aided by credit lines. Today I am serving as a senior associate and am grateful for the opportunity given by the Bank for me to grow and develop, collecting a wealth of knowledge over the years. From a small family of 150 employees the Bank has grown to over 1400 staff members and the working conditions and amenities have improved radically over time.

Joining NDB has been a cherished decision in my life as I have been able to lead a happy, successful life and looking back I am glad to see the progress I have made as an individual and the success the Bank has attained as an organization".

Going down the memory lane, another recipient of the long service award, Ganga Wanigaratne, an Assistant Vice President attached to the Retail and SME department stated, "I joined the Bank as a fresher just after school and learnt my ABCs in banking here.

I was initially an employee of ABN, Amro which subsequently became part of NDB after the merger that took place in 2005. Despite the popular belief that working at a bank can be dull and boring especially over a period of 25 years, I am glad to say that I have been able to enjoy every single day of work.

This is because I have been able to experience a diverse blend of culture throughout my career and the dynamic, evolving nature of work has constantly brought new opportunities and challenges each day. I am proud to have been part of the successful journey of the Bank over the past 25 years".

Commenting on NDB long service awards, Russell de Mel, Chief Executive Officer of NDB and a recipient of the award himself stated, "I am proud to be a long standing employee of this exceptional institute. Over the years NDB has grown from strength to strength to evolve as a unique banking conglomerate with a solid grounding and great potential to further expand."
