Sri Lanka - Korea Business linkages would be further strengthened in
the years to come, stated Jong Moon Choi, Ambassador in Sri Lanka for
Korea, at the recently held interactive evening at the Taj Samudra
Hotel.
The interactive session focused on export opportunities and
challenges in the Korean market for Sri Lankan exporters. It was
mentioned that Sri Lanka would achieve a higher growth rate in the next
few years, after Korean Air commenced direct flights which would show
positive results of increased export volumes to Korea. The Sri Lankas
Tourism sector has also shown a positive growth of tourists visiting Sri
Lanka from Korea in the years 2012/2013.
The total number of Korean tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka was over
16%, compared to year 2012. This is a positive sign that Korean
travellers have now included Sri Lanka in their travel itineraries and
we anticipate a further increase of tourist arrivals from Korea during
the year 2013, due to the new flight by Korean Air, said the Ambassador,
addressing the well attended gathering during the interactive session.
The Sri Lanka - Korea Economic Cooperation Committee also launched
their new website.
