Sampath Bank take title
Sampath Bank powered by two fine knocks by Kaushal Silva (35 not out)
and Hasantha Fernando (25 not out) beat Hatton National Bank by seven
wickets in the finals of the MCA Super Over Twenty20 Knockout
Tournmament played at NCC Grounds on Sunday.
Taking the first lease of the wicket, HNB were restricted to 91 for
nine wickets due to fine bowling by Suwanji Madanayake(three for 15),
Sri Lanka test spinner Rangana Herath(two for 11) and Dasun Shanaka(two
for 12). Hashan Gunatilleke(23) and veteran Saman Jayantha(22) made the
only noteworthy contributions for HNB.
In reply, Sampath Bank knocked off the required runs in 15. 3 overs
helped by the two fine innings by Kaushal and Hasantha.
