The Awards Day of Harcourts International School (HIS) was held
recently at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute (SLFI) amidst a large
gathering. The Assistant Director and Country Manager of British
Council,Harriet Gardner was the Chief Guest.
The Principal Faleela B Jurangpathy presented the annual report of
the academic year 2011/2012 which highlighted all the events and
activities the school had, and also the progress the school has made
during the year under review.
The Chief Guest addressing the gathering said that she was highly
impressed by the performance of the students both in curricular and
co-curricular activities. Besides she stressed on the importance of
educating the girl child and the necessity of an all round education for
the development of a child.
The Chairman of the school Ahmed Rheyas said that he is happy that
the school is under the guidance and leadership of a veteran
educationist who has over forty years of experience. He further added
that he had a passion for education and that led him to embark on a
school project. Two colourful cultural items were presented by the
students of the Primary Section which was a great source of
entertainment to the audience. This Prizes were distributed by Senior
Minister of Urban Affairs, A H M Fowzie, Private Secretary to the
Governor of Western Province, Naqueeb Moulana, the Chief Guest,Harriet
Gardner, Principal, F B Jurangpathy, the Principal of the Pre-school,Faiza
Haniffa and Deputy Principal, Aysha A Cader.
The vote of thanks was delivered by the Head Prefect of the
school,Nuzla Hafeel.
