Become a city naturalist with the CNTKC

Do you love learning about nature? Would you like to learn more about birds, insects, animals and plants in the city? If yes, then join Cinnamon City Naturalist Awards and take your love and understanding of nature in Colombo to the next level.

The City Naturalist Award is the first event of the Cinnamon Nature Trails Kids Club (CNTKC) at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo. The award will be held for a group of only 30 children, from the ages 9 to 15 years. So hurry up and book your slot today! The Award will run on Sunday (April 28), May 19 and June 9 from 3-5.30 pm at Cinnamon Lakeside (with a field visit included in the last lesson). You must attend all three lessons to complete the award successfully and obtain your badge.

This award is conducted by Cinnamon Nature Trails, the Ecotourism and Adventure Tourism division of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts in collaboration with Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo. Learn from some of the best naturalists in the country who have worked with prestigious global organisations such as National Geographic and BBC.

The three lessons (conducted once a month) consist each with a different focus on nature. The first lesson encourages you to celebrate nature and appreciate it in different ways. The second lesson focuses on learning about nature in the city and involves a fun study of birds and butterflies.

The final lesson is all about sharing both your passion and knowledge of nature and includes a field trip to a Cinnamon Estate where you will be able to use everything you have learnt to conduct your own nature walk. The award is crafted to inspire you to get excited about nature and develop a wide range of skills such as team work, leadership, creativity and communication-all of which will serve to enhance your personal and academic development. You will also be able to practice your photography skills with wildlife photographer,Head of Ecotourism and Special projects, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts,Chitral Jayatileke who leads the Cinnamon Nature Trails team,so hurry up and sign up for the City Naturalist Award!
