Shopper beaten up by sales girls

A 38-year-old female graduate was allegedly beaten up by three sales girls attached to a textile shop in Ambalangoda which she had visited on April 12 for New Year shopping, according to a complaint lodged by her to the Ambalangoda Police.

Police said the complainant had alleged that as she was leaving the shop after making payments for the clothes purchased three sales girls attached to the shop dragged her into a room and assaulted her charging that the skinny she was wearing had been robbed by her. When she showed the receipt she had obtained from another shop where she had purchased the skinny the girls stopped the beating apologizing for their mistake and let her free.

Ambalangoda Police said three sales girls arrested in this connection have been released on police bail and they were due to arrest the manager of the shop and three other sales girls for questioning. Investigations are continuing.
