Lanka Sathosa records highest turnover

Lanka Sathosa has recorded its highest turnover of Rs 1,786 million over 13 days (April 1 to April 13) during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festive season. The turnover during this period last year was Rs 1,293 million, Co-operatives and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando told the Daily News. He said the New Year has brought unprecedented revenue to Lak Sathosa.

Lanka Sathosa, mini coop city, mega coop city and cooperative shops have been able to provide essential commodities to customers without any shortage during the New Year season.

"Lanka Sathosa branches throughout the country sold all types of essential items at low prices. Lanka Sathosa was able to curtail price increases in the open market during the festive season. If not for Lanka Sathosa, unscrupulous traders would have exploited consumers unreasonably," the Minister said. "We have been able to keep the prices of essential items stable during this season by implementing proper management system," he added.

Minister Fernando also extended his gratitude to customers who have placed their confidence in the Lanka Sathosa network for fulfilling their consumer needs during the festive season.
